Driving to Yosemite

Today we drove 150 miles to a campground called The Pines on the out skirts of Yosemite. On the way we stopped off at the Google HQ in Silicon Valley. As another option of stairs they had a slide. We also got a free android toy.

We arrived at our campsite and had to put our food in a bear-proof storage cabinet.

I hope any bears or snakes don’t came and get me tonight!!!!

Leaving

We drove up to Auckland at 8:00pm and checked it all of our backpacks and went through customs. We finally boarded the plane at 11:30pm, but our flight got delayed by one hour, so we just watched movies and played games on the tv things on the seats.

Our plane finally took of at 1:00.The engines started up and we zoomed down the runway and took off. It was a 8 hour flight to Hawaii , but we flew over the massive volcanos and the massive mount kea. I think I even saw lava from the plane!

We finally landed in Honolulu and went through customs , it was pretty scary because all the security people had guns. We finally made it through in one piece and are now waiting for our plane to depart! This is the plane we are flying to San Francisco on!

Today we went sight seeing in San Francisco. The first place we went to was Lombard Street (the crookedest street in the world). The second place we went to was pier 39, the seals stunk. After that we went to see the world famous Golden Gate Bridge. It was so big and tall.

Packing up day

We are packing up our house and putting it in a container ready to move. Only a week to wait for our America tripπŸ‘πŸ½

One of the few times you will see Mia’s floor – enjoy! 😊

Countdown begins…

Well, less than a month till we set off on a 110 day adventure to USA and Central America. After I got a term’s leave (unpaid…) from school, thought we might scratch the travel itch that’s been festering for a while. Oh, and we decided to move house as well as renovate the house we are moving into as well as have the kids start at two new schools when we return. Should be sweet aye?

Anyways, looking to crowd source from our FB friends some travel tips. Here’s some links to our plans –
USA

Basically, arrive in San Fran in October; three weeks car camping round Yosemite, Utah and Grand Canyon; back to LA and fly south to Panama with Bronwyn Roberts and Ross Roberts to back pack north to Cancun; 6 nights in Cuba then 6 nights in Hawaii on the way home.

Been to any of these places? Any travel tips or places we must see?? Any chance we are going to cross paths on this wee sojourn???
